We knew it was likely, more and more with each additional report indicating the Knicks were preparing for the worst.
Now, it’s official. Isaiah Hartenstein is gone.
And really, it’s tough to blame him.
At $87 million in total dollars, the Thunder paid I-Hart $15 million more over three years than the Knicks could pay him over four. Even with a reported third-year team option, that is a gargantuan sum of money, and something anyone would be hard pressed to turn down.
You can see OKC’s vision. The West is loaded with size, and even if I-Hart may not be in every closing lineup, his presence will be vital for key situations, and the fit should be seamless.
Good for them, and for him. Now we worry about what comes next in New York.
