Broken.
The Knicks got embarrassed.
Pistons 121, Knicks 90
23-12 (L4), 7-8 on the road
The thing about rock bottom is that you never know when you hit it, because things can always get worse.
Although the way this game went down in Detroit, the Knicks are going to need a sledgehammer if they want to get any lower.
In a season that was filled with such promise just a week ago, things have officially gone off the rails. Facing the team directly ahead of them in the standings - at least until Boston passed New York for second place last night - the Knicks went out on national television and were thoroughly embarrassed by a Pistons team playing on the second night of a back to back and missing their second, third and seventh leading scorers.
Some losses make you question the ceiling of a basketball team. Others make you question the floor. This one managed to do both.
The way the Knicks are playing right now, they aren’t a safe bet to beat anyone, let alone a contender. Their once vaulted offense is a disjointed mess, and their defense had Deuce McBride openly questioning whether any was even played. The worst part, if it can possibly be narrowed down to one, is that their best players are the primary culprits.
