Good morning. The Raptors come to town tonight, and for the first time since their matchup almost a year ago, the Knicks will face both RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley. They may once again be without Karl-Anthony Towns and Deuce McBride, who are both listed as questionable. They will try to avoid their first four-game losing streak since last February, when a hobbled roster limped into the All-Star break having dropped four straight. I’ll be back on halftime if anyone wants to say hi.
Drawing a Blank
Occasionally people ask me how I manage to pump out newsletter after newsletter when the Knicks are either really bad or going through a particularly tough stretch.
I always answer them the same way: while those haven’t always been the easiest newsletters to write, they’re often the ones I look forward to writing the most because it’s the easiest way to remove whatever stench is in the air or sour taste remaining in my mouth.
During times of struggle, whether I write about trade targets, lineup changes, or simply someone who needs to play better, there’s always meat to be found on some bone out there. Usually I can’t wait to try and find it.
Not after this Magic game though.
