Good morning! Karl-Anthony Towns is finally officially a Knick, so it’s only right that we spend today thinking about what that will look like on the court. A KAT-themed newsletter awaits…

News & Notes

🏀 Say hello to my (not so little) friend.

The Knicks announced yesterday afternoon that they have officially completed the Karl-Anthony Towns trade, solidifying the organization’s intention to be in the thick of the title chase for the foreseeable future.

KAT should be at practice today. Hopefully we get to hear from the newest Knick.

🏀 As the final trade details were made available, Fred Katz reported that all three sign and trade guys (Jeffries, Brown and Washington) were inked to new contracts that started just $1 above the league minimum. As a reminder, teams can’t stack minimums for salary purposes before December 15, so $3 bought the Knicks a whole lot of leeway here. Also per Katz:

“I have heard from various people that the league isn’t thrilled about this — but such is the way it goes with new CBAs. The NBA tries to close up loopholes and then smart people working for teams find new ones.”

As usual, all hail Brock Aller.

🏀 In the KAT press release, Leon Rose had predictably glowing quotes about Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo. the Knicks’ Twitter account also sent out Thank You messages to Julius and Donte (along with, somewhat hilariously, Keita Bates-Diop).

🏀 To fill out the rest of the camp roster and get some warm bodies in the building for the next few weeks, the Knicks signed Chuma Okeke, Damion Baugh and Alex O’Connell to Exhibit 10 deals. As a reminder, because of cap constrictions, the only way Okeke can make the team is if Landry Shamet doesn’t.

The same goes for TJ Warren, who Ian Begley reported will be signed to an Exhibit 10 deal as well.

Now that that’s all out of the way, I gotta ask…

Who’s hungry?
