Masterclass
Every year KFS has been in existence, starting with the #WeHere team in 2021 and continuing forward, we’ve designed a special shirt just for the playoffs.
Every year until this one, that is.
It said everything you needed to know about the first 82 games that heading into this postseason, there was no 2025 edition to be found. Hell, we didn’t even have a meeting about it. No one thought to bring it up.
Who could blame us? Yes, the Knicks won 51 games, and yes, they were a good bet to win at least a round, but - in stark contrast to last season - the vibes were nowhere near where anyone wanted to them to be.
So when I went to get dressed this morning, I didn’t have an obvious choice of t-shirt to put on. I ended up going with our 2024 edition, which reads “WHY NOT NOW?” across the front in big, bold letters.
One year ago, that seemed like a question worth asking. After all, the ‘23-24 Knicks had already overcome so many odds. Why not keep the train chugging all the way into June?
We got our answer soon enough, which is that apparently there is a critical mass of injuries one roster can sustain before it can no longer function at peak capacity. Even so, that group left an indelible mark on every fan - so much so that this year’s team spent the entire season trying to escape from under the weight of those lofty ideals.
Did that cause us to sleep on a giant in plain sight? Or have these Knicks grown by leaps and bounds before our very eyes? The truth, as it always does, lies somewhere in between.
In retrospect, I don’t know what slogan we would have given this team if we had a do over. “Ya Gotta Believe” certainly worked out well for another orange and blue New York franchise, and definitely fits what we’ve seen over the last month. In lieu of that though, how about “Saving The Best For Last”?
We can only hope.
On that note, let’s go back and relive the five best moments from a night that had Timmy Chalamet getting pulled from his car by a delirious mob before all was said and done.
