🏀 We were starting to get a feeling that the final number was going to be massive, and it did not disappoint.
At $212.5 million in total money, OG Anunoby’s new contract is nearly $100 million greater than the next largest contract in franchise history (Melo’s $120 million deal, in case you were wondering).
It is a gargantuan sum for a perhaps the NBA’s most valuable role player, but one the Knicks needed to pay. As reports trickled out about the near certainty of multiple max offers from other teams, New York was left to use their built in advantages and craft a contract offer that satisfied Anunoby but also gave them as much wiggle room as possible in the immediate future.
