Oh Captain, My Captain
Jalen Brunson gets an important designation. Plus, a Julius Randle Extension update and the latest "Knick You Knew" from Ray Marcano
Good morning! It’s been a busy few news days for the Knicks, especially considering the time of year. We’ll get to all that, plus enjoy the latest “Knick You Knew” from Ray Marcano, in today’s edition.
News & Notes
🏀 After just two seasons as a Knick, Jalen Brunson had solidified himself as one of the best leaders in the NBA…and that was before he did his team the ultimate solid by taking a massive discount on an extension this summer.

In naming Jalen Brunson their Cap, the New York Knicks put a cap on a remarkable four-year run, going from league laughingstock to one of the most respectable teams in the NBA.
The last time the Knicks had a captain - Lance Thomas in the 2018-19 season, per the team’s own press release - they were engaged in a (somewhat) purposeful 17-win plummet to the bottom of the standings and, they hoped, the top of the Zion lottery. After that summer unfolded in embarrassment, the notion of New York announcing a Captain with any degree pomp & circumstance would have been even more laughable than their general existence as a franchise.
My, oh my, how times have changed.
