The Knicks put their 4-game winning streak on the line in Boston

Good morning! Tonight the Knicks head to the scene of their greatest triumph last season, facing off against the 11-9 Celtics in Boston. Don’t let the C’s record or their 8th place standing in the conference fool you; they sport the fourth best offense in the NBA thanks to their usual cavalcade of threes, taking great care of the ball and selectively crashing the offensive glass. Boston already has wins this season over Detroit and both Orlando & Cleveland twice apiece. They are very legit, and should have everyone besides Jason Tatum available. As for New York, they’re still without OG Anunoby and Landry Shamet.

Tuesday Mailbag

Let’s take a double dip of questions, starting with one from Jtictac that is especially appropriate today with New York returning to the place where they pulled off not one but two 20-point comebacks in last year’s playoffs:

Do you think these 20 point leads that evaporate are just a function of today’s NBA and three-pointers or do you think over the course of the season we can get better to maintain these leads?

Great question. I try to watch as many games as possible besides just the Knicks, and I can say that anecdotally, even if the leads we have lost tend to stick out in our memory, I feel like New York has actually been one of the better teams at maintaining large advantages this season.

But let’s put that data to the test (and I’ll note that all of the below statistics do not include last night’s games)…
