Did any reporter ask Mike Brown why he didn't use his last remaining challenge to review the Kornet kick? He had a long break with the timeout and seemed in the moment like worth challenging in that if they rule it a kicked ball out of bounds off of SA we have possession with a one point lead. Maybe he knew the fix was in and wanted to save it for a final call that might be more egregious?
I was fortunate enough to take my 13 year old son to the MSG watch party (shout out to those in the building - it was incredible). During the time out with 7 seconds left at 105-104, I sat slumped in my chair and gazed at my son who was still hopeful and upbeat. It was then that I realized he doesn’t have the decades of PTSD, he only knows the Brunson Knicks. In those few minutes all I could think about was every heartbreak from the 90s. I kept thinking how am I going to comfort him when we lose by one and explain this is just how things go for us. As DJ said on the postgame, it took me 10 seconds to comprehend that he missed the shot. We are two wins away from wiping away all of my PTSD and also ensuring my son will never have it in his lifetime. Final note - when we were on the train coming home last night, my son asked if we could watch the end of the KFS watch along, just to see Jon and Andrew’s reaction! That shows how much KFS and this community means to us. Two more wins!!
A special night and team...what a performance from all..top to bottom just magic. KAT clearly taking over this series and is two wins away from completely changing the narrative of his entire career..and if anyone needs to see the intensity/emotion and focus from this team right now i say watch Mikal Bridges MSG interview right after the game, that is a man physically exhausted, ready to run thru a wall and the intensity is palpable..just another great night with this magical team thatll never be forgotten and are 2 wins away from utter greatness. Enjoy the weekend everyone we deserve this. Lets Fing Go Knicks!
So happy for KAT. Don't recall a guy turning a fan base's narrative around him in such a magnificent way with the lights at their brightest. In spite of how his on court play frustrated me at times I have been always pulling for this thoughtful and emotional dude to flip the switch and he has on the grandest stage.
Jonathan, I appreciate you addressing the officiating, as the one-sided calling was an embarrassment to the league. As a Knicks fan for 56 years, last night’s biased officiating felt reminiscent of the 1997 Eastern Semi-Finals, when David Stern’s staggered suspensions of Ewing, Houston, Ward, Starks, and Johnson effectively handed the series to the Heat.
It seemed a split in San Antonio was predetermined, yet the Knicks prevailed despite the officiating. I hope the remaining games are called fairly to avoid another stolen series like 1997.
Had the same thought. Said out loud to myself in the moment after the Mitch technical, "we're going to win this in spite of the refs not wanting us to."
Ray this is become part of my joy of living. So much fun to read and participate. Great second thoughts JON and if you're a Knick Fan and you're not pissed you have no right being a Knick fan because it was disgraceful. so glad Mitch was able to show up but the refs have to get this under control before Brunson gets permanently injured which is my biggest fear before we win the next two. He's been subject to A. mugging the entire two games
How about those Knicks? Did you watch that fabulous game last nite? That wemby looked awful. I don't understand why he's considered greatness. Only asset is 7'4". Knicks are the team of destiny!
I’m pretty sure that’s the first game she ever watched, which I guess is consistent with broader trend of casual interest coming back as the team improves!
Today is the 82nd Anniversary of D Day, the invasion of the beaches of Normandy, France & a celebration of all the brave men who fought to maintain Democracy in the United States & the World! Last night, the Knicks invaded & conquered another French landmark! Viva La Knicks!
I was pretty sure I saw Fox's double dribble. The tv guys didnt mentionit and the knicks didnt challenge it. Is there a rule that makes what he did legal? Or did the Mikes (Breen and Brown) just blow it?
I *think* the thought on the floor was the ball was dislodged from his hands after he picked up his dribble, and because of that, when he picked it up, he could dribble it again.
The Knicks have been unable to stay in front of Harper for two games and Fox last night. So naturally Mitch Johnson calls a play for a 20 foot jump shot instead of sending one of those guys to the rim. He is not exactly the best coach I have ever seen. This has been an absolutely glorious six weeks.
I grew up in Connecticut dreaming of being the next Patrick Ewing or Allan Houston, but I was not a good youth basketball player. However, during one game I made three straight jumpers and was so shocked that I started blowing on my fingers. That is what Bridges reminded me of in the third quarter when half of Palm Springs could probably hear me cheering.
There are too many Knick fans who have not been doing this long enough. A lot of folks out there are thinking this series has already been won and that Games 3 & 4 at MSG are going to be a coronation. The reality is that the Spurs had a lead in both games with less than 2:30 to go. This series is far from over. Knicks have to keep their 0-0 mentality going into game 3 on Monday Night. If they win that game, then maybe we can exhale a little.
I agree....because if we were to lose on Monday....Game 4 would become a "must-win" for us since heading back to Texas with the series tied 2 games apiece, would be a nightmare so grotesque, that it would make 1997 seem like a stroll in the park.
The new "bench mob" is doing everything they can to win a CHIP! We needed everyone of their points to win this game. Again they delivered! This is the greatest Knicks team I have ever watched! Every one of the legends is living vicariously through these players, from those in the stands, to those who are commentators. I love this for them as much as I do for the players and us! Monday is going to be crazy!!! I only wish I weren't running a campus in Wisconsin, because I would give anything to be in New York right now!
This is by far the best Knicks coverage and community around. You’re missing out big time if you’re not getting everything the KFS team produces
Too kind, my friend, too kind.
Great write up. Great community. Thank you so much for creating this for us.
Other favorite moments included two kick balls. The Kornet kick ball that wasn't called - which even RJ was commenting on. https://x.com/Rate_the_Refs/status/2063099954890146068
And then the Josh Hart "hostile act" where Vasell kicked the ball first. https://x.com/SMHighlights1/status/2063073359068377229
And Wemby strangling Jose. https://x.com/TheStrickland/status/2063112416758550948
It was disgraceful.
Perfect word for it Andrew.
I have never seen a more flagrant (probably flagrant 2) foul than Wemby trying to pull Alvarez’s head off.
💯

there's a huge segment of us who were all feeling the exact same thing.
And the fact that your son asked that? I don't even have the words my man.
Let's get 2 more.

That interview destroyed the draft pick compensation discussion, forever
Hearty +1 to that Bridges interview. LFGK

That was the most shit whistle ever. Don’t forget the hair foul call against Brunson. But I’m over it for now and feeling good l.
Check out this text I got this morning from my mom:

love it! kudos to mom

Outrageous non-call and the two fouls calls on KAT were total BS (plus the Tech on Mitch plus plus). I’m not a conspiracy guy but…….
No. But seriously. What if they JUST DON’T LOSE ANYMORE.
Please don’t wake me from this dream.

We need the three stars! In the words of a certain OAKAAK, give the people what they want.
Monday, Monday!
Looking forward!
