Good morning! In the vapid wasteland that is the NBA news cycle in August, we got what counts as solid 6 on the offseason Richter scale when a popular video game may have accidentally leaked some new Knicks jerseys for the upcoming season:

If this is legit, sign me right the hell up. I’m all in.

Now on to today’s newsletter.

5 Questions With…Ray Marcano

Yup, you read that correctly.

The man who has been doing “5 Questions With…” as a KFS summer staple for years finally agreed to let me turn the tables.

For the unfamiliar, Ray Marcano is a lifetime journalist with a resume that would be long enough to fill an entire newsletter. He’d also get very mad at me if I started reciting from it here, so I’ll just say two things before we get to the five questions:

First, I never had a mentor in this industry until I met Ray. Out of sheer kindness, he reached out one day and we struck up a conversation that has lasted for half a decade. The only thing we had in common was our shared love of the Knicks, but that was more than enough for him. He is one of those special human beings that you’re sure don’t exist in real life until you meet one yourself.

Second, Ray knows more about bourbon than anyone knows about anything. Seriously. Ray is to bourbon knowledge as Tiger was to golf in the early 2000’s. I cannot recommend his bourbon newsletter strongly enough, especially since its free.

OK, enough preamble. Let’s get to my 5 Questions with…Ray Marcano.

1. What's something that's changed about the way you consume sports from when you were younger until now?

Media.
