Appreciated. I still don't think we fans know what Mr. Robinson can truly be [as a NBA talent] if his skills are honed and applied. KP the Good may be the Big Man doctor who Mitchell has needed so badly. A basketball orgy of Rim Running is very nice, but if newly "brolic" Mitch can hold the Post, hit a few shots, dunk over his defender, or pass the ball to [MOVING] Knick cutters the Half Court offense would be transformed. [Of course, he has to improve his Free Throws, too.]

In the offenses I like, Jack Ramsey's Trail Blazers, Bird's Celtics, the 7 Seconds or Less Suns, the 2013 Spurs does anyone have a really high usage rate? Nash probably. Bird? Duncan? I like to see the ball moving quickly---player to player---with everyone involved. No fan of the one man band or the Two Man Game.

Great thought piece & info on Mitch. Still think that if Dame becomes available, the desk will be IQ, Mitch, Burks & maybe Evan. Plus picks, of course. If we extend Mitch at around 10 mil and include him, we might be able to hang onto Burks.

If usage rate is designed to show the burden of carrying an offense, than I am surprised it does not somehow reflect assists. When Julius was driving and kicking to Bullock for an open three, it sure seemed like quite often Julius had to work much harder than Bullock during the possession. Yet it seems only Bullock would get usage points.

You'd think so! That's actually measured by 2 other stats: assist % and assist rate, which I'll dedicate an upcoming newsletter to

Seems like you would have to combine them in some fashion to more fairly treat the shot creators. When I think of usage, I think who has the ball most of the time to create offense. The Lebron’s and Chris Paul’s create a lot of it with passing. Turnovers are factored in (though not every turnover comes from attempting an assist—I wonder if it even half).
