Can’t fault the Knicks for the late game drama. 8 point swing by refs all by themselves. Really making me not want to watch basketball. Barnes fouled Brunson blatantly on that inbounds steal, horrendous missed call on Raps on the Quickley corner (not close) and Siakam offensive foul called Brunson foul for two ft’s. Insanity that they’re gonna do Knicks like this so often. Feels like they’re turning into NFL joke drama.

I agree, and I hate to whine about the refs, but wow the last couple weeks the refs have been brutal.

Maybe Julius has something coming for his past immature behavior, but why is the whole team getting so many bad calls.

And I don't think it's Thibs bringing it on because the word is that while he's harsh during the games, he's fair, and when the game's over, he puts it behind him. Last night's zinger at the refs in the postgame presser was rare.

Saw where Milesukee earlier this week blew a 16 point lead vs Toronto with 1:19 to play. They wound up winning anyway in OT but how the hell does that happen?

I’ve heard some recent trade chatter concerning the Knicks and Zach LaVine. Please NO to that. Ridiculous contract and has never shown himself to be a winning player. There’s no trade they can make for him that would be beneficial imo.

Don’t underestimate the importance of the defense that Quickley, Grimes and McBride are giving us on a daily basis. You need strong defenders around Randle and Brunson to be successful and it helps greatly that at least 2 of these 3 players can shoot. I’d be very leery on including any of these guys in a trade short of a deal for a true superstar. Perhaps not as much with McBride as with the other two but even with Deuce, his man to man hounding defense is a big deal. He shut down Van Vleet last night for a good part of the time he was guarding him and even hit a couple of threes to boot in the fourth quarter.

Some nice vibes now with this team.

Bad job by me, meant to mention the Bucks / Raps game and plum forgot. But yes, Toronto makes a habit of this.

I'm with you on LaVine...don't see how it makes sense.

I'd be leery of trading any of these kids unless its for a star player. Less with Deuce, as you say, but with IQ, and absolutely Grimes, who is foundational.

What a great surprise, the newsletter on a Saturday! Thank you JM! I’d love the Knicks to acquire a 2/3 who can put the ball on the floor; pass clearly and often and a 3pt shooter at .375% or above. I’m not sure who is out there that fits this description but I hope the Knicks are scouring the league. I’d offer in return a 2 or 3 protected one’s; Obi; Fournier and Cam. #donottradequickleygrimesandMcBride.

you're welcome!

As for who you want them to acquire, you basically described Fournier! Part of why I don't think they'll move him.

Great article Jon. All the late game drama lead me to look at our game log. By my count the Knicks are 8 -5 in games decided by 5 or less or in OT. Not bad. I think you let me know that they have the 22nd ranked defense in crunch time and 12th ranked offense. Now I learned that we are last in assist %. In these moments. All this leads me to one conclusion I think Knicks know but for some reason haven’t fully realized yet. Jalen Brunson is not normal. He is a star but an elite closer. the kind of guy that wins playoff series.

Very much agree. And quite happy he is on OUR team.

Surprised Mitch didn’t get a ⭐️ here. It strikes me that although clearly Brunson and Julius have been amazing, Mitch may be their most valuable piece. Strange to say that with two backup centers but a mediocre team like we have is so much more effective when they get multiple looks with the offensive rebounding Mitch brings.

I absolutely think Mitch might be the piece they can least afford to lose.

Great surprise on a potty training Saturday! There was a late possession that I swear Toronto tried to foul Randle before he could get it to Brunson and nothing from the refs. Glad to get the W up north. It's great to get the W but this te misses RJ

OOf...I'll be dealing with potty training again in a few weeks. Not looking forward to it.

Milwaukee comes up next, then the schedule gets slightly favorable for the next 8 games, before road games at Boston and at Brooklyn, then finishing the month with the Lakers at MSG.

To me, that means we should close the month no less than +5 over .500.

I think that's a reasonable goal.
