Not sure how many games Knicks would have won with a Bench: Derrick Rose, Cam Reddish, Obi Toppin, Isaiah Hartenstein. Starters are improved but the bench? And Thibs probably dies of a heart attack watching the defense of that group.
Same. I think the lack of depth hurts them more than Macri outlined here. The identity of the team is also less clear in this alternate universe and to my mind, settling on their identity was what lifted the team out of mediocrity post-Mavs collapse.
Much like my guy Randle I think Brunson is going to up his 3 attempts this year & become an all star. Knicks don't need Mitchell, Knicks need the RJ from playoffs.
The what if part was very well done and I think it is reasonable, despite the bench issue, to assume they would have been better last season with Mitchell. It does leave open the more critical question as to whether they would be better off now ( though if they could have pulled off the OG trade too, it would be a different matter).
However, my favorite part of today’s issue was in the What Is column, namely the following from Grimes as to his immense respect for Julius Randle (“I think there’s a certain narrative around him, which I think is total bulls--t honestly)
Your follow up tomorrow was going to be part of my question today. With the follow up, can I assume you will address what it would take if the Cavs want to move DM a year from now ? What if it’s a Dame like scenario where he says only the NYK ?
