IF the Knicks find a point guard with ALL the strength E Payton brings; PLUS an outside scoring threat? All NBA...quite possibly....On a winning team; where others can make the shots; and Win and advance in playoffs? Most improved; and votes {maybe} for MVP. I've stated before that Payton can flat out ball, big time. Shooting outside and FT's big problem for him. But you mention Jimmy Butler {whom Payton is not...yet if ever} not taking many 3's . Guess who also layed off threes; probably taking close to 90% of his shots inside the 3 pt line? Maybe the GOAT, MJ. Not getting crazy here; but if NYKs want more corner 3s {so people say} or any kind of 3; Payton is and could be additionally the guy; IF those standing outside the line are not KK or RJ for that matter. BEST part of Payton at Pt? He does not just throw the rock to unestablished players/shooters like RJ and KK; even Randle had to move his big body inside where he belongs {not running pt. like Fizzle allowed ; stating Julius just needs to "learn to not to keep putting his hand on the hot stove" Say What! Fiz actually said that after another disaster w Randle handling rock 30-40 ft from rim. Payton will drive; create; see the entire floor; get in paint, kick it out or dribble it out and do it over again. Defensively he can be outstanding. Offensively; you do't have games w 11 assts and 0 turnovers like I believe he did on a couple/few occasions with a crap team/crap coach {Fiz} /crap front office {Mills} forcing 30+ minutes to rooks like KK and even RJ {whose obviously better player} to prove they made right picks {which could up to them as they were shit canned....finally}. School is still out on Perry. Pushing for RJ; and apparently turning down picks #8 and 10 for that #3; now speaks for itself after looking at all rookie team. Not trading Mitch after year 1 [pretty much same as yr 2}; who everyone loves his athleticism [as do I]; dropped from projected 1st rounder by 5 teams as low as pk #13 possibly down to 2nd rd pk; made NY look like genius'....And well worth the risk at the time. But his history of diff high schools in diff states and a debacle at WKU where he never suited up and left campus left more conservative gamblers staying away....Mitch destroyed people in multiple AAU type tourneys; same size; same athletic phenom; but now 5-6 agents; a former trainer who said he needed a leash to get him to gym for workouts etc; and last I heard left team workouts for personal reasons? Rutttwo! If Perry was all that he would have traded Mitch {faced the heat} got legitimate assets after Mitch made it through 1st season with horns blaring at his limited yet super skills; THEN traded #3 pk for Mitch clone {and 3 yrs younger Jaxson Hayes} and anyone else 8-13 most of whom got all rookie honors ahead of RJ this year. I've said it ad nauseaum in the past. Sorry. 1st time here. Your work is tremendous; and your stats have said much of what my eyes have seen right out of gates for the most part. One of the few blessings I have is only way I can honestly put it. I even debunked the usual dancing Berman on Payton getting shipped out the minute Thibbs was hired. Payton is an impact player when healthy and treated fairly. I think Frank could be very impactful as well as long as NY doesn't sit him on pine for games at a time including Christmas day on nationa tv; with it advertized in advance that his mother was flying in for the celebrations from France. Knicks got destroyed {again} by the Bcks. IF I was Perry; Millls; or even Dolan; I would have walked by bench and said "put Frank in....NOW". Instead it sent young Frank to the therapists couch until mid season this year....somewhat. Miller did excellent job and definitely had "Me first Mills; Perry; and whoever else was shipped out after stealing millions from Dolan in paychecks ; and still do. If Thibbs is the Defensive guy we know he must be [ amongst other things hopefully for us NY fans} there is no doubt in my mind he is looking how to pair a possible 3 headed defensive blender of Mitch; Payon; and Frank, at times with a couple other legitimately great offensive scorers/shooters. Currently RJ {said from day 1} and Knox {same} are not those couple of offensive threats to actually drain and rain 3s. Nor is Melo out of a rocking chair. I could go on but Ive said more than enough. Glad to have this opportunity; because what I see your stuff is best the general public has been able to see; best as i can tell for years now. And I admit I don't delve into the NBA much anymore; but I did with NYK's and have many years now with hometown team. W Rooney

Not playing anyone with an outside shot is definitely one way to get the team to drive to the rim but I wouldn't use it as a way to determine lineups unless you assume other teams A.Had to try very hard to beat the Knicks and B, That you can take all your shots at the rim and other teams will not respond.

Not to mention the 3 point shot is evolution. Lets not fight it.

What is CP3 worth as a free agent?

I'd like him on the Knicks at the right price but watching all of these trade discussions that try to use emotional words as the "logic" drive me nuts. The OKC asking price or what they want is the second most irrelevant piece of information.

How much is the guy worth and how does that differ from what he's owed? That's what should be driving the trade conversation but it's literally nowhere to be found. How does this happen? I feel like I'm at an auction with bunch of people who have never shopped anywhere but a supermarket.

Asking price means nothing.

Fit means nothing

Nothing means anything except what the second best offer will be and I haven't seen any that are even offering salary relief. The top 100 CP3 offers I've seen all come from the Knicks and we all just sit here and keep bidding him higher.

When I go to an auction I don't even bid on the stuff I want until someone else does or the auction is about to end. The goal isn't to win the auction. It's to be the most hated person at the auction.
