Hey John. First off, thank you for the content as always. You spoil us. You really do.

Sorry in advance for the long-worded question...

So after watching a bunch of unexpected wins, followed by close losses, I find myself confused and conflicted (I know, join the club, we have lifetime memberships available). I can no longer decide whether I should be looking up if the Pacers and the Spurs won or if the Hawks and Hornets lost (fun fact, I do neither, I'm a league-pass junkie and a spoiler-hater who has to watch the games I'm curious about).

What I'm left with is this question: IF THE KNICKS DON'T MAKE THE PLAY-IN, WHAT ARE THE MEANINGFUL "THINGS" TO BE GAINED FROM THE GAMES LEFT ON THE SCHEDULE.

To be even more clear, what I'm wondering is, if we don't lose enough to really improve the lottery odds and we don't win enough to make the play-in, WHAT SHOULD WE LOOK FOR AS SOMETHING OF VALUE IN THE GAMES LEFT. I'm sure there's something. I imagine if I'm a coach or someone in the front office, there's got to be SOMETHING I've got my eye on (or multiple somethings).

Not an easy question, I know, but would love to hear your/Andrew's/Jeremy's thoughts on a possible answer.

Cheers,

~Q

I think you've just inspired the theme of my wrap up / look forward piece for next week: was this season a waste?

An educated basketball fan is a Sims backer. Jericho needs to hit the Knicks media room and look up Moses Malone, Wes Unseld and Dave Cowens in their primes.

Off topic, but wondering if you are keeping an eye on the Orlando PGs. Now that Fultz is back and playing well, they have four (including Hampton who may not really be a PG). Wondering if you think we have what it takes to pry one of the other three away and what you think of them. I loved Suggs coming out. He is playing out of position at SG. I did not love Cole coming out, but he is having a decent year (or is that only when he plays the Knicks). Fultz is playing well since coming back. Curious what you think of them as a fit.

The draft is not likely to solve the problem unless we end up with Ivey. Ty Ty looks to be a somewhat better at midrange IQ. Maybe his court vision is better but it is hard to tell since they don't use him at PG. Ivey is not the PG on Purdue either but seems to have elite vision and athleticism.

Will definitely touch on them in a trade piece this summer

Shitty season. Awesome newsletters. Love your note about rewatching the footage of Fournier watching the ball drop in front of him instead of rebounding. There's a lot of that sadly and it's something you can't teach. It's an effort level, desire and a "nose for the ball" that our French ami Fournier simply does not have. Kinda not his false. It is who he is and has always been...unless he's playing the Celtics and cares. My favorite clip is the last one you have under my man Jericho's highlights rebound where he runs to the rim after a high double screen and has to run through a Fournier pick of him who is standing in the middle guarding nobody...just getting in the way for the rebound. Removing guys like Fournier & Ju will not necessarily make the Knicks better...just more fun to watch and afford us Knicks fans fewer gray hairs/throw the remote at the TV moments. Fournier plays like his legs don't bend all the way. Maybe he has too much iron in his diet. Is that what happens? :-)

Is there ANY possibility that Julius can be used in a package for Zion? According to Enes Freedom, Zion is a younger version of Randle. Do the Pels really want to deal with the headache of Zion not wanting yo be there. And Zion seems to love NYC.
