I don’t know we have to make the move for Mitchell immediately. I have feeling Randle may rehabilitate his valve playing with a competent PG. I would then move Randle and Fournier for assets then go after Mitchell.

I say strike while the coals are hot. If the opportunity presents itself and the Knicks are still in a position to make a move, they should. Go all in on a guy with 4 years still left on his contract to pair with Brunson, Mitch and most likely RJ. All of these guys are still working towards their prime, and could age nicely together. I think this could actually work.

JM, as far as I’m concerned I’d pay double the subscription price if we could get Knicks Film School seven days a week! Secondly, is Mitchell the star was promised? I’m not so sure. Our backcourt is pretty decent with Brunson, Quick, DRose, Fournier, Grimes, and sometimes RJ. But how about the wing spot? Other than sometimes RJ, we don’t have that long wing who can shoot, rebound, defend.

Is there that guy coming down the pike to wait for?

Maybe the optimist's view of an impossible choice is that either path leads to an acceptable, if not ideal, outcome.

I'm really not too concerned about which choice the Knicks make here (if indeed there is a choice to be made). Like you, I'd prefer it if circumstances backed the Jazz into a corner, giving the Knicks some leverage, but if they want to throw everything at the Jazz to make the trade happen, so be it. I'll sign up for "New York Knicks, perennial playoff team" even if they never find a way to become more than that. If they want to hold on to their assets and bank on a bonafide contender-maker becoming available down the line, that makes sense too. (Based on Leon & Co's behavior to this point, the latter seems more likely. Certainly, I don't see them saying yes to everything the Jazz would demand.)

All of this is to say -- this isn't such a bad place to be! I too am "old enough to remember 2006, 2007, 2010, 2014 and 2016" and am trying to remember to be grateful that there are obvious path forward, even if those paths might not lead to the promised land.

Thanks to you, KFS crew, and the larger circle that helps you all accomplish your great work...

1) Not counting his prep school glory [he is from Greenwich, CT - Knick fans, not NYC] days, what has he ever won as a leading player?

2) His ongoing and persistent contretemps with Rudy [I got COVID] Gobert. He came off petty and small. He could have led [pass Rudy the damn ball] and built up the Jazz to WIN, but he pouted like just another entitled NBA star. Really mellow - not.

3) He comes from a great suburb, he's got a nice nickname, he can hop, and hit his pull ups at a decent clip. Still...

4) Of course, he's CAA so Leon and Wes will know all the important stuff. This affair will be on this regime's Knick obit if they swing and miss. [And getting him could be the miss.]

5) If fans have to have another real NYer get Rudy Gay or, sigh, Melo if he's willing to be out of the rotation on his farewell tour.

The Knicks could be very close to getting Mitchell, having someone regress, and a possible injury away from Utah selecting top 3 in the next couple of drafts thanks to the Knicks. I for one don’t want to see this.
