Summer League Kicks Off
Plus, a big decision for Jalen Brunson and an introduction to Tyler Kolek.
Good morning! Is today the day Jalen Brunson puts pen to paper and confirms his status as the face of the franchise for the foreseeable future? We shall see. In the meantime, let’s get excited about Summer League…
News & Notes
🏀 The Knicks finally announced their full summer league roster yesterday afternoon, and it contains all the folks we expected:.
The squad will once again be coached by Knicks assistant Dice Yoshimoto, and will kick things off on Saturday at 5pm EST against the Hornets, who will feature last year’s second overall pick Brandon Miller.
🏀 Today’s the big day - potentially - for Jalen Brunson, who is eligible to sign the much discussed $156 million contract extension that New York’s front office will surely put on the table.
I’ve written about a possible Brunson extension here, here, here and here, so feel free to refer back to any of those for a refresher…or just wait until he (hopefully) extends and I write something brand new.
What can I say…JB taking this deal is worth all the attention and then some.
🏀 Kyle Lowry is heading back to the Sixers.
I know some fans had been interested in the possibility of him joining his ‘Nova brethren in New York, but the path to playing time here is far more difficult to envision than what awaits him in Philly. This always made the most sense.
Getting to Know: Tyler Kolek
Starting today and continuing into next week, I’ll be including some extended snapshots of some key members of New York’s summer league roster. First up: Mr. Kolek.
