This newsletter really nicely encapsulates why, despite this season being a massive disappointment, I haven't been too down about it. What will the Knicks do? I have no idea. But, unlike many times in the past 20 years, they have a variety of options for how to proceed.

It's hard (impossible?) to predict what is going to work in the NBA (see: Nets, Brooklyn; Lakers, Los Angeles; et al), but maintaining flexibility means you have a chance to try *something*, whatever that something is. And if that something doesn't work out, you try something else.

Thanks John. Flexibility is the best asset they have at this point, other than RJ Barrett of course. The key will be using it wisely, which this FO has yet to prove they can do. I remain hopeful though

My hope is this WWW bending Dolan's ear is just a shot across the bow at Thibs to say, "Dude...time to show that you really did take time to reflect after things went sideways in Minnesota and can be bend a little toward playing the kids in a no-playoffs situation". I think these last 23 games will be a real chance for Thibs to show that. My gut tells me Thibs will say "F-You" and be the stubborn goat that he has always been. This will end with Thibs as the fall guy and drying his tears with the benjamins from the remaining contract payout. BTW...best tweet of the weekend in case you missed it: https://twitter.com/TommyBeer/status/1495246516885278729/photo/1

This has to be up there as far as depressing moments go. When you have a report that says the front office is ready to move on from Thibs if they miss the play I'm but in the same breath were looking to move vets which I think would of been counter intuitive to making the play in.

I really believe all that good juju from last year has disappeared. And the "culture change" was just a mirage. And that the front office philosophy was probably flawed from the start.

Any die hard Knicks fan would agree that the nightmare situation after last season that things would go so backwards that it would give credence to the LOL Knicks haters that these are the same ol Knicks.

Jon, I shared your trust in this new front office for most of the season. But the way they seem to make Thibs a scapegoat (not that he is without sin) is showing me a lot of possible cracks in the very new foundation. No different to Perry/Mills or even Phil beforehand. And winning cures all but maybe when Ira's article came our last outlining the Knicks 2020 draft plan. Maybe that should of been a warning sign we all should of paid heed to.

Enjoy the rest of your Knicks vacation with your family Jon. As always very much worth every bit of a read.

A high lottery pick for Zion ? I assume a high lottery pick plus some other stuff ? Or has Zion’s value fallen so far, that’s all they can expect back.

Certainly plus other stuff, yes
